1/10/2024 0 Comments Triceratops lego set![]() ![]() It’s a triceratops in a box with a few extra bricks. And, let’s face it, that’s what this set is. If you collect dinosaurs like me, this is a thoroughly entertaining set just for the triceratops. This triceratops definitely leads the herd. It’s looking rough, like it’s been in a fight or two. The previous iterations have been pristine, fresh out of Wu’s lab. Like I said before, this is the cheapest way to get a triceratops. I keep all my Jurassic World dinosaurs on a shelf. Need I say more? I’m recycling this set for bricks, but that dinosaur will remain on display. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.Claire Dearing and Franklin Webb alternate faces. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. If it was 20%-30% cheaper, I would highly recommend it but at this price, I would wait for a sale. Larger specialized molds usually makes production costs higher and in turn, make the sets themselves pricier. $50 for it is extremely expensive and it is mainly due to the Triceratops mold. It is very accurate to the particular scene but one thing that holds it back is the price. When LEGO first revealed the LEGO Jurassic Park Triceratops Research (75959), I actually laughed as I didn’t think LEGO would make such a set. There is also a brown frog in the set which I assume is a reference to the frog DNA used for the dinosaurs. A shovel is included but I don’t remember seeing it in the movie. It is minifigure scale so you can recreate the scene. The other part of the build is the Triceratops poop in which Malcolm calls famously says, “that is one big pile of sh*t.” In the scene, Ellie digs through it looking for traces of West Indian lilac berries which she couldn’t find in movie but a couple are included in the set. There’s enough room inside to fit four minifigures. Inside the Explorer, you have a stickered slope brick with the interative CD-ROM that Lex was so interested in when they started the trip. The back of the vehicle has a sticker for the licensed Ford Explorer XLT logos. The hubcaps on the wheels are printed 2×2 tiles. Towards the back, you have stickers of the 04 next to the rear lights. The sides of the Explorer has a larger JP logo along with the T-Rex skeleton. The hood has a sticker for the Jurassic Park logo with some animal printing. The color scheme is spot on with the lime green and yellow with the dark red top. The main part of the build is the Ford Explorer 04. The head is on a click/ball joint combination so it can move in a wide range of motion. The set does come with a larger Triceratops that comes with a molded body, legs, and head. ![]() He has a more tan flesh for his skin color and his double-sided head shows him with a smile on one side and a confused look on the other. Ian Malcolm has on the iconic black shirt and pants. Her double-sided head shows her with a smirk on one side and a disgusted expression on the other. The color of the flesh on the legs are very close to the color of the pants. It’s a little hard to tell but she has on some khaki shorts. Ellie has on a neon pink shirt while in the movie, she has a more muted pink shirt. There are only two minifigures inn the set, Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm. ![]() The set has 281 pieces and retails for $49.99. In my next review of the summer 2023 LEGO Jurassic Park 30th anniversary sets, we take a look at the Triceratops Research (75959). ![]()
